Town Hall on Women's Empowerment & Gender Equality

MP Arif Virani hosted a Town Hall on Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality at Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton Catholic Secondary School on February 21. He was joined by a panel of amazing female community leaders, including Lindsay Maskell, Strategist and Consultant in the Public Affairs, Crisis Management, Government Relations and Advocacy fields; Huda Bukhari, Executive Director at the Arab Community Centre of Toronto; Chemi Lhamo, Co-Founder of the Tibetan Youth Alliance Committee (T-YAC) and Board Member of the Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario; Heather Gamble, Co-Founder and Owner of Women on the Move; Rev. Anne Hines, Minister at the Roncesvalles United Church; Avon Harris, Community and Outreach Manager at The Redwood; and Constance Simmonds, Senator at the Métis Nation of Ontario. Panel members gave passionate and inspiring speeches on several issues that affect women in Canada and around the world. The audience engaged in a positive discussion for the remainder of the event.
