Self-Esteem, Body Image, and Social Media
How do you feel about your body? How do you think other see you? Are you happy with who you are and how you look? Do you find that you are comparing yourself to images you see in the media and online? Positive body image and having a healthy self-esteem are essential to your physical health and your overall well-being. We are constantly bombarded with images from the media and online that have a significant impact on how we view and feel about ourselves. We are subjected to images and messages telling women and men how they should look, often leaving us feeling upset and dejected about not living up to the ideal they are presented with. This workshop will explore the impact body image has on self-esteem, and examine how external factors such as media trends shape how individual see themselves as well as how they shape societal beauty norms.
